Embrace Your Crazy… WELCOME TO MY BLOG

October, 2025

In 2024… I started a new business, created a new website, started this BLOG, became a GRAMMY, attended my oldest son’s wedding, took a cruise to Spain, Portugal, Italy and France for the first time and lost my 90 year old father. It has been a year of prayer, self reflection and reinventing. As we approach one year to many of these milestone events…I continue to self -reflect and re-invent my life, trying new things, challenging myself and organizing…always reorganizing something. Please check out my posts below and look into my crazy brain as I reflected on life…hope you gain some inspiration!

Life is Precious…

Each moment is a blessing.
Each second is a gift.
Each day is not promised.
Each memory is God’s gift.

Life is so precious, each breath we take should never be taken for granted. There comes a time in life when we start to question our own mortality. For me, it started when my best friend unexpectedly lost her husband at the age of 57, over 9 years ago. It was a wake up call that reminded me that life is much too short and way too precious not to be living life to the fullest, being happy and loved. In this last year that fear was heightened by the death of my dad, my uncle and my aunt all dying within one year, most recently my aunt who was only 9 years older than me. Their deaths made it even more real and instilled a greater fear that my time will come, too but also motivation to do better.

But even more alarming are the tragic deaths of people around the country, dying to violence in a country separated by hatred. Again… another pull at my heartstrings reminding me that life is too precious.
I truly believe God has a plan for us but I also believe we play an important part in writing our story. Each chapter will be different…some happy, some sad, some challenging. It is up to us to make choices that will bring us joy and bring us love.
This year I made a list of goals that I continue to work towards achieving to live my best life. But that isn’t enough …we need to also spread kindness and love to others and celebrate our similarities while embracing our differences.
Our world is in serious trouble. We need to learn to live together, respecting each other’s differences, respecting each other’s views and respecting each other’s lives. There is no room for hatred or violence. I believe love, patience, respect, kindness and faith in GOD are the answers.

So in Love…

In March of 2024, I officially became a grammy…although I love Randy’s grandkids as my own, Sofia was the first from my children . As I watched her grow and change these last 17 months, I am amazed at all she can do and how smart she is… every minute I get with her I fall more and more in love! When raising my own kids, I was juggling 4 kids, a household, a teaching career, coaching, PTO, etc. I can’t remember having the time to enjoy each moment. Now my own children are 28, 32, 34, and 36 and I wish I had those years back….I am on a mission to live my best life and live in each moment…enjoying our children and grandchildren. Life is short…fall in love!

Control

Have you ever thought about the word Control and the many meanings it plays in you life? We have no control over the weather. Can you control your kids? Do you have control of the car? I’m going to loose control! I can’t control my feelings! I’ve lost all control!
Control is defined as:
1. the power to influence or direct people’s behavior or the course of events.
2. the power to restrain something, especially one’s own emotions or actions.
3. maintain influence or authority over.
4. remain calm and reasonable despite provocation.

Many people like being in control…myself included. But there are many things in life we just can’t control. And when we feel we’ve lost control it brings added stress into our lives… that worrying steals joy from the present without changing the future, and we can only control our thoughts and reactions, even if we can’t control external events. Over the years I have realized that only God has complete control over our lives. We can’t control what others think or say or do…we can only control how we react to it.
One of my favorite prayers is:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” I sometimes substitute the word control in place of change…”God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot control, the courage to control the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” This reminds me that I cannot always be in control and I need to learn to accept the consequences. Here are some quotes for some added wisdom…
“You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside.” – Wayne Dyer
“Focus on what you can control, and don’t waste energy on the things that you cannot,” according to janetaylor.net
“Stop letting people who do so little for you, control so much of your mind, feelings and emotions.”
“Don’t let your happiness be controlled by something you cannot control.”
“You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you.”

June 5, 2025

I’m not sure where time went and how we find ourselves in June. Where did May go? Randy and I enjoyed a trip to Massachusettes with grandkids, time spent babysitting my 1 year old granddaughter, flower planting and yard work, grass cutting, lots of appointments with my mom, a birthday celebration, and making new items for Knick Knack Patty Shack. So that brings us to June and I have to ask how are you doing on your new spring goals…more importantly, how am I doing?
The only way things will change in our lives is to change and do something new…so in May I also managed to tackle some goals on my Spring Refresh list… First, I started praying more! The new POPE has given me HOPE for a brighter future. I believe God has a plan for us all but we need to put in the effort. So more thoughtful prayers and praying the rosary are a start to my faith journey. Second, I started eating better…more fruits and vegetables, more protein and less carbs and less sugar. 10 pounds lighter and still counting and I feel better and hope I can continue this healthier life style. Third, reaching out to friends…I feel a friendship is like a garden…we need to cultivate it for it to grow. Connecting with friends and checking in on them is something I try to do everyday…even if it is 1 text or call a day . Fourth, plant a garden! I planted lots of flowers and put in a small veggie garden. With all the rain…I am enjoying the beautiful blooms and watching them grow. Fifth…although the rain has been good for the flowers, it’s not so good for walking…but I have started taking more walks in between the raindrops and my body aches. Sixth, start a new hobby…since I am always making things, I decided to try a new craft…making resin…and I am hooked! Stop in and see my new creations. Lastly, growing my business. We got new signs and business cards made, a new laser engraver, I continue to make new items, advertise more and spread the word. All good things time and patience and I hope this summergives me an opportunity to meet new people and inspire others through my creations and blog. Check out my new items!

SPRINGTIME GOALS

GRATITUDE JOURNAL PROMPTS

VISION BOARDS

February 20th

February is the month of LOVE! It is hard to believe it is almost over! But everyday should be about LOVE and KINDNESS! We live in a world and country that is very divided and regardless of your political views, your religious beliefs or your choice in ice cream flavors; we all should learn to enjoy our similarities, accept our differences and learn and grow from each other. My parents instilled in me many core values and beliefs…which I hope I have passed on to my own children…but more than ever these simple things should help guide us through life and be reminders that Love and Kindness are the key to a united world.
Words to live by…
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Love one another!
If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all!
Two wrongs do not make a right!
If we can’t be part of the solution…make sure you are not adding to the problem!
We may not always agree with everyone but we owe it to each other to listen.
Through example they showed me….
To work hard and have a strong work ethic.
Pray and believe in God!
Put God and your family first.
Plant seeds of kindness wherever you go.

As we maneuver through this thing called life…remember God made us unique, strong individuals and it is up to us to live up to our own potential. … learn to accept differences, embrace change, compromise, but most importantly love and be kind…

December 1st
Christmas is a time of giving but gifts come all shapes and packages…

Each day is a gift from God..we are not guaranteed another day so we need to be grateful for each day, live each day to the fullest and treasure the memories that unfold each day.

This year was filled with so many gifts… Randy( my rock…I am so grateful God brought us together), a new baby granddaughter who has brought so much joy into my life(joy I had no idea I was missing), a long awaited wedding( a union between two who have learned that life is filled with both joy and challenges…but we need to focus on the joys and learn from the challenges)more time and laughter with my dad(so grateful for the memories and the legacy he left us all), time with family and friends(both close and afar…time spent with our children, grandchildren including another baby in Massachusettes, parents, family and friends is the most precious gift), a dream vacation and cruise to Italy, Spain, France and Portugal(much needed time away exploring new worlds), a new endeavor(opening a new business…Knick Knack Patty Shack…allows me to decorate, meet new people and explore my creativity) and lastly another breath each new day brings( the possibilities are endless…something I do not take lightly.)

This holiday season I invite you to reflect on each day and the gifts God has given you this year and remember to always share your gifts of kindness and love to those you meet each day.

How can I help you?
Self-love, mindfulness and promoting a healthier environment are all areas which I have become more and more aware and knowledgeable about. Hopefully my posts will not only inspire but also provide helpful information. In my shop, I hope to promote self-love and a healthier and happier environment through products that I sell. From essential oil room sprays and rollers to Norwex Environmental and Window cloths to inspirational products for you or to inspire others.

Essential Oils…

Essential oils are much better for you and the environment as air fresheners than commercial products; they cleanse the air by altering the structure of the molecules creating smells, rather than masking the unwanted smells.  We are surrounded by harmful chemical…if we each try just a little something new we can help make this a healthier place to live. When we are looking for alternatives to toxic products in our homes and in our lives, essential oils are a convenient, practical and pleasant solution.   [Worwood]

Essential Oil Rollers

Essential oil rollers are quick and easy aromatherapy at home! They are a pre-diluted essential oils that are safe to use. Essential oils have been used for centuries to naturally help all sorts of different ailments using botanical ingredients. Trying to get therapeutic and aromatherapy effects through the sense of smell alone is not as effective as applying the oils directly to your skin and letting your whole body absorb them.
Essential oils are very concentrated and can irritate the skin if not diluted.
One of the main benefits of essential oil rollers is that they help your essential oils work in as little as 20 minutes after application through the skin. This is why roller bottles are a great way to give your body the gift of essential oils.

Growing Hearts and Minds

https://www.smore.com/n/5cdf6-growing-hearts-and-minds

“I Love Spring…a time to rejoice, a time to renew, a time to rejuvenate, a time to recycle, a time to refresh, a time to relax and it’s always a time to redecorate!”

Patty

RE….

Did you ever sit back and think how many times we use words beginning with the prefix RE?… and better yet how impactful those words can be! The prefix RE means once more; afresh; anew. I always have believed in second chances especially at this point in life. When I started planning to retire, I made a list of words beginning with RE…it almost became an obsession…how many cool
RE words could I find? But more so what meaning do they have in my life?
The most obvious was retire: leave one’s job and cease to work…for me that was not quite what I meant by retiring…I ceased to work in a public school but haven’t stopped working or teaching for that matter.
Let’s look at RE words and reflect on how they can make a difference in our lives!
Reflecting: (think deeply or carefully about)… is a great way to think about things that are good in our lives and maybe some things we need to change. I first started to Reconnect : with friends…something I did not have enough time to do prior. I also needed time to Reboot: (to Refresh) Relax and Re-energize …self-care is something we all need to take the time to do.
Most importantly…Reinvent: (change something) , to take up a different career or a different way of life…reinventing ourselves in order to find our best self is always a welcome change…especially after retiring!
But since we are all not in the same stage of life and retirement isn’t an option for all… we all can Renew: (To make something new again) and Restore (to freshness or original condition)…our current stage of life and look for ways to Refresh: or Reinvigorate: (give new energy or strength to).
So as I was self-Reflecting on the next chapter in my life…Knick Knack Patty Shack emerged and with that I looked for ways to Repurpose: (adapt for use in a different purpose)…and make it my goal to find new ways to use old items from Recycling:(convert waste) into Reusable material…old cans, old cards, old anything into something new and to Refurbishing: (Renovate and Redecorate things)…like converting small areas in my home into new spaces. I also Restored: (bring back ) and Repainted …old furniture. I Recreated: (create again)… a new workspace and Recharged my batteries to make my dreams a Reality:(things as they are). So my gift shop is ready to go after receive my required permits…until then I will practice resilience and try to remain calm!
Until then… let’s remember SPRING…is a time for rebirth, recycling and renewing! So friends let’s all get rejuvenated and make a TO DO LIST or should I say RENEW LIST? and write down 10 things you want to do as we approach spring and summer. As we rethink our life plan and re-evaluate where we want to be, we can re-establish: (set it up again)…new boundaries and redefine our purpose and goals and then get to work and restrengthen ourselves, our relationships and our bodies. The time is NOW! Relinquish:(leave behind) all your doubts and fears, recharge your batteries, Recuperate from all that ails you retake control of your Life! Remarkable things are ahead so ready, reset and go!

Decorating Ideas

As the holidays approach it is often difficult to decide on gifts for our friends and loved ones. For as long as I can remember…I have loved gift giving!
