Hello…welcome to Knick Knack Patty Shack! My name is Patrice Arnold…but known to most as Patty. We all have a story to tell… let me tell you a little bit about how I got here! First…I am a mother of four amazing, grown children, a new grammy to one beautiful, little baby girl, the girlfriend to a man who keeps me on my toes and challenges and loves me everyday, a Patty… to Randy’s daughters and 4 grandkids, the daughter to a wonderful mom who now relies on me to help care for her needs and keep her company since the recent passing of my dad, and a friend and relative to countless people who have helped mold me into the person I am today. I am blessed and loved beyond words.
In June of 2023, after 37 years of teaching first grade, my story started to unfold into a new direction. I became a retired elementary teacher… a role I did not know how to navigate. I started to reflect upon my life, especially as the big 60 approached. A part of me felt as if I never really left first grade and I was still that teacher; enjoying life to its fullest, learning new things, wide-eyed, curious, enthusiastic, creative, energetic… but after retiring, reality started to sink in and I knew it was time to start a new chapter in my life… time to reinvent myself, and work towards becoming my best self . I’ll always be a teacher at heart…just ask Randy… he thinks I treat him like one of my students … old habits are hard to break. But seriously, it was time…time to move forward with my story and begin writing the next chapter. But what did that involve?….my ADHD brain compiled a list of things I could pursue…party planner, decorator, author, business owner, house flipper…But which role was right for me and which could I make a reality? After many sleepless nights and tossing around more ideas than humanly possible, the stars aligned… and I decided to follow in my parent’s footsteps and open a small business..a little gift shop. I could use my creativity and decorating skills, put all that energy I have inside to good use, redirect all those ideas inside my brain and hopefully inspire and help others. And so with the help of my daughter’s creative name, and a whole lot of sweat and tears… Knick Knack Patty Shack became a reality… featuring all kinds of knick knacks… sorry, no Patty whacks …but I do have some dog bones! Unfortunately, my dream was put on hold for several months, dealing with permit issues. But we are back on track and ready to live that dream. Please join me in filling up the pages in this next chapter of life… come and see my new shop in the Poconos featuring retail and handmade gifts, decor, and personalized and inspirational items, and and help spread the word to all your family and friends.
October marks one year in business, one year since my son got married and my dad died and one year of growth, goal setting and reinventing my life. Visit my Blog for inspiration or join my FB groups: Embrace My Crazy BLOG
